CHOOSING THE RIGHT COLOUR
Getting your hair coloured? Whether you’re heading toward blond, red or brunette, choose the colour carefully—there are at least 50 different shades and it’s not one size fits all. The most important factor to consider is your skin tone, categorised as either being cool (olive or yellow based undertones; most Asians fall in this category) or warm (fair or pinkish undertones, with freckles and pinkish cheeks). Stay away from adding more of the tone you have in your skin to your hair colour, otherwise you may look ill, the colour may look washed out or will pick up unwanted flaws on your skin like acne or dark circles.

1. ADD HIGHLIGHTS

The resulting colour will be a combination of your current colour and the colour that is added on, so it may not look like the swatch of colour you chose. Show your colourist a picture of the colour you are trying to achieve, and leave it to them to mix the right colours for more accurate results.

The more obvious the colour, the more maintenance and upkeep required—hair roots are very noticeable when the hair colour is stark or very different from your base colour.
